About Generosity.co
Generosity.co is an independent trade publication about online giving. We compare giving platforms, state what they actually cost—which is often not the number on the pricing page—and diagnose why donation pages fail to convert. Every comparison ends with a recommendation and a reason.
Who this is for
Small nonprofits and churches—organizations under roughly $1 million in budget, usually with no development director. If you are a volunteer treasurer, the one staff member who also handles the website, or a pastor choosing a giving platform on a Tuesday afternoon, this site is written for you. You are competent, busy, and short on money, and platform pricing is built to be hard for you to compare. We do the comparing.
This site is not for individual donors deciding where to give, and it is not for enterprise organizations with a procurement process. Advice built for either would fit you badly.
The method
Three rules govern everything we publish:
- Vendor documentation only. Every fee figure comes from the platform’s own pricing page or docs. We never repeat one vendor’s claim about another vendor’s price.
- Every figure carries a date. Fees change, so each number on this site has a verification stamp showing when we last checked it. Figures we could not fully confirm are stamped for you to verify direct, and the text says so.
- A recommendation every time. “It depends on your needs” is a failure state. If we compare two platforms, we tell you which to pick and why.
The frame that makes the comparisons work: platforms differ less by their headline rate than by their fee architecture—the structure that decides what you actually pay at your donation volume. We classify the market into five of them, and they show up as letter badges across the site:
The donation fee calculator applies those architectures to your numbers.
What we are not
- Not a vendor. We do not sell a giving platform, and no platform owns or funds this publication.
- Not a directory. We do not list every platform and let you sort it out. We cover the ones that matter for small organizations and take a position on each.
- Not a ministry blog. No devotionals, no inspiration. This is trade press: numbers, dates, and recommendations.
How we make money
Affiliate commissions on some platform referrals. That deserves its own plain-English page: how affiliate links work here, including why we recommend a platform that pays us nothing. If you spot a fee figure that is wrong or out of date, tell us—corrections are the point of the whole exercise.
